Michael Wolansky CPA

“My best communications with people are face-to-face. I’m most comfortable that way and I think that makes the people I’m talking to comfortable.”

The thrill of meeting deadlines and, as a result, making clients happy is what Michael Wolansky loves about being a CPA. For him, getting the job done, without a lot of chaos, and experiencing an appreciative client when it’s all said and done, is what makes his job fun – especially in an industry that is evolving so quickly.

A partner in the New Jersey office, Michael has more than 30 years of experience in tax, audit, accounting, and consulting. He spends his time primarily providing audit services and is responsible for audit engagements of various commercial service and manufacturing enterprises. He works with financing companies, credit unions, factoring companies, commodities, manufacturing, and employee benefit plans. Michael also specializes in Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) work, which he has been doing since the early 90’s,

Michael works with Buchbinder’s Quality Control Department and performs national peer reviews for accounting firms. During these engagements, he conducts system reviews of a firm’s quality control system over issuing financial statements.

In addition, Michael provides transaction advisory services to companies on both the buy and sell side of due diligence.

An Active Listener

For Michael, listening to his clients and what they are requesting is of top importance. Even if his client has goals that may not be easily attainable, Michael makes it a practice of never saying no until the request is researched fully and properly. Sometimes this means talking to a client multiple times and acknowledging that initial reactions aren’t the best way to move forward.

He’s directly involved on each engagement and believes the best results come from supervising his team in person. Michael is most notably known for rolling up his sleeves and working directly with a client’s management team in order to get to the heart of the matter.

Prior to joining Buchbinder in 2016, Michael was a partner at a mid-sized regional accounting firm in New York since 1986, where he provided audit, accounting, tax, and peer review services.

In his spare time, he plays tennis and golf.

Michael earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Cum Laude from West Virginia University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he also serves on the Peer Review Committee. Michael is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and Florida.
