Michael Kowler is a Partner in Buchbinder’s Maryland office. With over 40 years of experience, Michael provides audit and assurance services, and tax preparation and planning for privately held and family-owned businesses as well as non-profitslabor unions and employee benefit plans.

Michael oversees the firm’s business valuation and litigation support services department. In this capacity, he works with clients and their legal team on such matters as matrimonial law, estate and gift tax preparation and planning, corporate and partnership disputes, buy-sell agreements, lost profit damages and professional malpractice cases.

Qualified as an expert witness for valuations of privately held and family-owned businesses, Michael has appeared in the Montgomery, Prince Georges and Howard County Courts of Maryland. He has prepared business valuation reports for a variety of industries, including government contractors, accounting, legal, health care, professional practices, automotive, software technology and retail and wholesale companies. Michael also provides valuations of goodwill and other intangible assets in compliance with GAAP. In addition to valuations, he has also represented clients before the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service.
