A Distinguished Leader in Employee Benefit Plan Audits

Employee benefit plans are the foundation of our firm. For more than 75 years and three generations and counting, our partners have built a practice on serving employee benefit plans. We pride ourselves on knowing every aspect of this complex and dynamic industry.

Buchbinder is one of the top tier CPA firms in the nation providing audit and assurance services for employee benefit plans like 401(k), 403(b) plans, health and welfare plans, defined contribution plans and defined benefit plans. We audit employee benefit plans ranging from just under $1 million in assets to $7 billion in assets and plans ranging from just under 500 participants to 328,000 participants. We perform audits for 165 employee benefit plans in New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia and Washington, D.C., as well as throughout the United States.

A significant portion of our firm’s partners and staff at our offices in New Jersey, Maryland and New York are devoted to employee benefit plan audits. Our partners are highly trained to navigate the ever-changing requirements and regulations employee benefit plans face. We regularly attend specialized training sessions and conferences to stay abreast of the latest updates affecting this industry and our clients.

We are members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Audit Quality Center for Employee Benefit Plans. This membership allows us exclusive access to resources solely for employee benefit plan audits. As a member firm, we must meet specific practice management requirements in training, quality control and self-monitoring. We are also members of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, and many of our partners have been members of the employee benefits committees of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Our CPAs realize the incredible challenges posed by increased oversight by the United States Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service. Our team is constantly staying up to date with any regulatory changes that will affect your employee benefit plan. We know the fiduciary responsibility you hold as sponsors. With a quality audit, trustees have assurance that they are receiving reliable financial information and are complying with their fiduciary responsibilities.

At Buchbinder, 79 percent of the benefit plans we serve are multi-employer, collectively bargained benefit plans. We provide the following comprehensive audit and assurance services to both multi-employer and single payer benefit plans:
