Audit Senior, Employee Benefit Plans – MD >
The Firm seeks experienced Senior Auditors for our Bethesda, MD office to oversee audit engagements that include diverse for-profit client engagements, labor unions and non-profit audits, and employee benefit plan audits. The candidate will work alongside staff of all levels and will benefit from the mentorship of supervisors, managers, and partners. They will assist in overseeing and helping develop less experienced staff. The ideal candidate should have a broad exposure to employee benefit plans, with strong experience auditing defined benefit plans.
Responsibilities:
- Interface with client personnel to obtain records and information pertinent to the audit process.
- Gain an understanding of client business operations, procedures, and needs.
- Prepare audit workpapers, and provide guidance to less experienced staff.
- Assist in the preparation of client financial statements.
- Assist in the planning of engagements, and in certain cases manage the planning process.
- Prioritize competing work demands, and manage time appropriately.
- Maintain organized and neat work areas so that workpapers and files can be easily reviewed by others.
- Keep colleagues, seniors, and managers informed of progress and the need to make adjustments to scheduled work.
- Represent the Firm in a positive light by maintaining a professional demeanor, dress, and attitude at all times.
- Follow established procedures, but suggest innovative, progressive ideas where appropriate.
Qualifications:
- 3-7 years’ experience in a public accounting setting in an audit role with progressively greater responsibility over time.
- Required experience auditing employee benefit plans, including defined benefit pension plans.
- CPA license strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of ProSystem Engagement a plus.
- Flexibility to travel to client locations, including Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and up to 30% out-of-town domestic travel; valid driver’s license and regular access to a car.
Senior Auditor – Non-Profit and EBP >
The Firm seeks Senior Staff Accountants to perform external audit functions. Two positions are available. One based in the New York City office, primarily servicing Long Island clients, and the other based in either our New York or New Jersey office with a focus on Manhattan-based clients. The candidates will work alongside managers and partners, and will provide supervision to less experienced staff. The candidates will be provided with mentorship and ongoing feedback to promote learning and growth.
Responsibilities:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 150 credits, or equivalent academic credentials to qualify for CPA licensure.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Experience with Prosystem Engagement and Prosystem Tax a plus.
- CPA strongly preferred
- Flexibility to travel to client locations, including local travel and the possibility of minimal out-of-town travel.
- Regular access to a car and a valid driver’s license.
Audit Manager – MD >
The Firm seeks an experienced Audit Manager for our Bethesda, MD office to oversee diverse audit engagements, primarily labor unions and non-profit audits, but also for-profit client engagements and employee benefit plan audits. The candidate will work alongside partners and will oversee and help to develop less experienced staff. The ideal candidate should have entrepreneurial instincts that could lead to a path at the partner level.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate staff on each engagement, including planning, delegating, and reviewing the work of less experienced staff.
- Conduct research as needed, and inform clients of pertinent information.
- Review complex financials prepared by staff.
- Advise clients with regard to regulatory concerns, and suggest improvements in internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Ensure audit completion within allotted time budgets.
- Finalize reports well before deadlines to ensure sufficient time for top level and quality control reviews before issuance.
- Maintain regular contact with clients to address client needs, and to ensure smooth and efficient work flow.
- Review the work performance of staff on an ongoing, per engagement, and annual basis, and train staff on an ongoing basis to broaden and deepen their skills.
- Act as a mentor to staff, including career coaching, problem solving, and technical development.
- Keep informed of regulatory and industry changes.
- Maintain accurate and current records for client billing system.
- Play a significant role in our firm’s marketing activities
Qualifications:
- 8-12 years’ experience in a public accounting setting in an audit role with progressively greater responsibility over time.
- At least 5 years of recent experience auditing not-for-profit organizations.
- Valid CPA license required.
- Knowledge of ProSystem Engagement a plus.
- Flexibility to travel to client locations, including Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and up to 30% out-of-town domestic travel; valid driver’s license and regular access to a car.

The Firm seeks an experienced Quality Control Manager for the Firm’s Audit practice.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-issuance review of financial statements and audit documentation
- Consult with partners, staff, and clients on financial accounting and auditing matters
- Review firm’s systems and specific engagements in the annual internal inspection
- Assist in performing peer review services
- Lead in the implementation of new audit and accounting standards
- Interface with the Firm’s peer reviewers and other inspectors
- Conduct training with new hires
- Research and present topics for internal CPE seminars
- Maintain audit templates and documents
- Keep accurate records for client billing system
Qualifications:
- 10-15 years experience in a combination of audit practice and quality review in a public accounting setting, with no less than 3 years in QC
