6 Areas of Your Business to Re-evaluate and Become More Resilient in the New Normal
The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed business operations for the foreseeable future. Businesses are being forced to evaluate their current operations and adjust to a new normal. We have helped many businesses to adapt to this new environment.
How will your business look going forward? Here are key areas you should re-evaluate in order to implement appropriate plans for your business.
1. Remote work
Having employees working from home was not a standard practice for many organizations before COVID-19. Going forward, this practice may continue, and employees may only be in the office a couple days per week. This means businesses need to look at their office space and determine if they will need less space to operate from. Can you break your lease or consider downsizing?
2. Communication with staff
Creating a collaborative work environment while employees work remotely is essential for businesses. Written communication is certainly not as effective as real time personal interaction. Will managers be able to effectively lead and evaluate individuals effectively?
HR should be aware of the various problems employees may be facing because of COVID-19, such as mental health issues, childcare, and changes to family dynamics. Is your HR staff equipped to effectively manage this?
Many businesses were not set up to work completely remote before COVID-19. In addition to having software and hardware stress tested, proper security is an important issue. Review your business’ disaster recovery plan. Does your business have the proper safeguards in place if an employee’s computer is hacked? Would your business be able to operate if your servers go down and nobody can access your office to fix them?
5. Client relationships
This unsettling time has changed the level of engagement with clients. They may be turning to you for guidance during economic uncertainty. When life beings to return to normality, do you have an engagement plan in place with them? Have you continued to communicate with them on a regular basis?
6. Sales & Marketing
Businesses fundamentally need to change how and what they do in relation to sales and marketing. In-person events and networking can no longer be a business development strategy. Virtual meetings and online conferences are the new norm. Is your business adapting to a shift in digital communications? How are you altering the way which you interact with your customers?
