Case Study Labor Organization A Union's Success Story A measure of our success is our ability to help our clients identify and solve problems. During a meeting with one of our large union clients, we found that the union leadership had concerns about the financial operations of its subordinate locals. There were a few hundred locals, each with its own autonomous leadership. Most of the locals did not have leaders with much background in managing the finances of an organization. We developed a plan to perform agreed-upon procedures on each local's records to determine its compliance with financial standards. Now, based on our procedures, we present reports of our findings to the parent union as well as the locals. We also meet with each local's officers to discuss our findings. Once the locals' officers understood that we were there to help, the program grew to be a great success. We were able to satisfy the concerns of the parent union and at the same time help the locals follow appropriate financial standards as well as answer their multitude of questions. It was a true win-win-situation. |
